Robert Sherman (December 19, 1925 – March 5, 2012) half of the duo Sherman Brothers who wrote classic songs that touched all of our childhoods such as "It's a Small World", and all the songs in The Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and many many more. While we only saw Richard Sherman on the piano and singing the demo, we all know none of the songs would have been half as catchy, memorable or even generally Good as they are and forever will be thanks to him.
Ernest Borgnine (January 24, 1917 – July 8, 2012) An actor with a career six decades strong, winning an Oscar in 1955 for his lead role in Marty, playing Quinton McHale in McHale's Navy and co-starring in Airwolf, among many others. But we know and love him as the voice of retired undersea super hero Mermaid Man. There is Evil afoot, and the battle for submerged justice will never be the same without Borginine.
Jerry L. Nelson (July 10, 1934 – August 23, 2012) The muppeteer mostly known for playing Count Von Count, Harry Monster, Herbert Birdsfoot, Sherlock Hemlock, Herry Monster, the Amazing Mumford, Simon Soundman, Mr. Johnson, Frazzle, Sam the Robot, and Fred the Wonder Horse. But my personal favorite role of his is the voice of The Ghost of Christmas Present in The Muppet Christmas Carol, one of my favorite movies of all time. [link] And it wasnt till i looked him up I realised, he's also the puppeteer of Kermit the frog's nephew Robin, who also sings Bless Us All as Tiny Tim [link]
And only Today did I discover Toonopedia author Don Markstein (March 21, 1947 - March 10, 2012) founder of the website Don Markstein's Toonopedia [link] had passed away. As a cartoon enthusiast, I owe a great personal debt to Mr. Markstein. His was The first website from whence I drew my vast trivial knowledge of long forgotten cartoons like Felix the Cat, Bosko the Talk-Ink Kid, Krazy Kat, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Flip the Frog, Little Nemo, Gertie the Dinosaur and many many many more back in 2003. I began my life long journey of exploring animation's past and became the cartoon buff that I am today, all thanks to him. And I will never forget him
And it would be inhuman not to acknowledge and stand in an hour of silence for the poor innocent underage victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown Connecticut on December 14, 2012. Gunned down before thier time. 6 brave teachers and 20 innpcent children were gunned down in roughly just 10 minutes.
